Another school year done!

Today was the last day of school with the students. I am going to miss my kids, but I’m also very happy to have the time off. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I worked very hard this year, and I do see that reflected in my class. They are now (hopefully) better readers and writers, and overall hard workers.

I still have to go in tomorrow for a meeting, and I’ll have to go back in another day next week to fix up my classroom.

The important thing is that I’m done…hooray for me! Now let the summer fun begin!!

Pushing myself to work out

So I’ve just restarted the Couch to 5K program earlier this month. I’ve done it a couple years ago, and made it to the final week. But I didn’t maintain it afterwards, which is why I’m starting again.

I’ve been very diligent in doing my jogs 3 times a week, but sometimes there are days (like today) when I feel that I can save it for another day. However, I just tell myself that I’ve been doing well this far, so why give up now?

My purpose in doing this program is to stay active. I’m not the most athletic person, but I feel wonderful after a nice jog outside. Losing weight is secondary for me.

I have been learning a lot about running and healthy foods as well. I try to eat more fruits and veggies on a regular basis. My new thing right now is smoothies. I’ve been trying new recipes every now and then.

Well, time for my jog…

Countdown

This week is the last week of the school year for me. It’s very exciting, but also very stressful with last-minute items, such as preparing report cards to be sent home and cleaning up the classroom for September.

As much as I liked my class this year, it was also the most mentally draining, being that it was a new grade for me and they are a much younger group.

I’m planning on using my time off to get much-needed relaxation. But it’s also a time for me to reflect on what went well and what I could do for the next school year to be a better teacher.

There are going to be lots of changes in the next school year, so I know I’ll be ready for it.

The chapter is almost done…on to the next one.

Summer is here!!

Today is the official day of the summer season, and it sure as hell felt like it. As much as I love summer weather, with temperatures near 40 degrees Celsius, it can be quite unbearable!

Trying to find different ways of dealing with my hair with this kind of weather. Can get really frizzy. I’ll figure something out eventually…
